Data & Reporting Analyst – Finance

Base Location: Reading Salary: £26,800 – £42,600 depending on skills and experience Working Pattern: 18 Month Fixed-term Contract | Full Time | 37 hours per week | Flexible working patterns available About the Department Our SSE Finance function has a key part to play in fulfilling SSE’s obligations as a UK-listed company, providing expertise and services that can be shared across the SSE Group, and working in partnership with all businesses to provide services tailored to their specific needs. What is the Role? Working within the Business Energy (BE) Core Platform Replacement (CPR) team, you will report to the Finance Data & Reporting Manager, supporting the achievement of a robust financial data migration, and integration to Oracle GL, and establishment of the to-be financial reporting across Customer UK. CPR is a critical enabler to SSE operating as a standalone business post sale of their Retail Business to Ovo. The Data & Reporting analyst role is to support continuity of existing BE Finance processes throughout all stages of the programme and is required to support the definition and testing of BE Financial reporting to replace the purpose-built reporting that exists today. Continuity of reporting is key to supporting management accounts preparation, decision making and financial planning by the Leadership group. All financial reporting needs must be delivered and tested ahead of the initial Pilot phase in 2021 and throughout the Customer migration to the new system. Given the intended pace of this programme the successful candidate will be expected to take an agile approach to the role. Key accountabilities; Participation across the CPR Programme lifecycle including analysis and design workshops, data migration, integration, testing, training, implementation and transition to business as usual. Supporting the CPR Data Migration Lead, with the financial reconciliation process, reviewing and reconciling Financial data throughout the planned 9 ETL’s, and Historic Data in the Data Platform Supporting the definition and development of all Financial reporting: liaising with the CPR Domain Leads, BE and Group finance team and other SMEs to agree, document and support the development of effective & robust financial reporting Working with the CPR delivery team to support development of the UMAX data structure for management reporting, agreeing appropriate changes to the Chart of Accounts and the Oracle GL system integration, supporting acceptance testing for all financial reporting and the Oracle integration. Working with the CPR delivery team, Data Platform team, CPR Domain leads, BE Finance and Group Tax team on the historic data reporting requirements for data from CS and other associated applications that will not be migrated to UMAX. Identify implications of project design on finance reporting, available information, and ensure risks are highlighted in a timely manner so that informed decisions can be made Support the Finance team and areas of the business that link to Finance pre-implementation, including UAT and business readiness checks on the Chart of Accounts and reporting throughout dual running and transition to business as usual. What do I need? To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have experience in systems changes and new systems implementation, you should also be able to demonstrate an understanding of Financial Control and Governance framework related to Systems. Experience working in environments with significant levels of Business Change and the ability to support business change, questioning the status quo is required. We are also looking for candidates to be degree educated with experience working within a finance environment and be accustomed to handling large quantities of data, high attention to detail, proficient in financial reconciliations, able to identify data quality issues and anomalies. You will be confident in interpreting and documenting logical data structures to support accounting, analysis, reporting and integration requirements and be highly organised with strong communication skills; verbal, written and presentation.
