HIPAA SECURITY ANALYST Posting Number req2103 Department Research Admin Services Department Website Link Location Main Campus Address Tucson, AZ USA Position Highlights The HIPAA Security Program in Research, Innovation & Impact at the University of Arizona is in search of a HIPAA Security Analyst for an extended temporary employment role. The HIPAA Security Analyst works under the direction of the HIPAA Privacy and Security Officers and assists University entities with achieving compliance with information security policies, procedures, and standards for protecting HIPAA regulated data. The Analyst will work closely with unit Information Technology administrators, faculty members and researchers. The position will require regular and frequent communication and coordination with multiple colleges and departments within the University, and affiliated health care entities. The University of Arizona (UA) HIPAA Privacy Program (HPP), led by the Director of the HIPAA Privacy Program, oversees all ongoing activities related to UA’s implementation of HIPAA policies and procedures and is the office primarily responsible for ensuring UA’s HIPAA compliance. To learn more about the programs and whether this position is affected, please visit hr.arizona.edu/FY-2020-2021-Furlough-Program Duties & Responsibilities Evaluate and recommend technical information security safeguards for the implementation of security measures to protect HIPAA regulated data across the University’s health care components. Assist with incident response and investigations related to data breaches, including documentation, mitigation, remediation, and corrective actions plans to protect HIPAA regulated data. Review health care components information security systems to ensure compliance with relevant privacy and security laws, and other rules and regulations. Coordinate and work with University units on HIPAA privacy and security issues to identify privacy and security gaps and deficiencies. Maintain internal incident tracking system to ensure security incidents are documented and addressed in a timely manner. Maintain regulatory documentation and electronic files related to health care components and research projects. Provide support for information security training activities for the HIPAA Privacy Program. Prepare documentation and provide user training on information security topics. Remain current on privacy and security trends and topics that may impact the University’s health care components. Assist Privacy Officer in privacy and security governance activities. Assist Privacy Officer with policy and procedure reviews, modifications and updates. Additional duties may be assigned. Minimum Qualifications Up to 1 year of relevant work experience may be required. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required. Preferred Qualifications Basic knowledge and use of information security principles, theories and concepts. Basic understanding of HIPAA or NIST 800-series information security requirements and controls. Completed college coursework in a major related to Information Technology or Cyber Security. Demonstrated excellence in customer service, technical problem solving and collaboration. Experience in developing documentation and delivering training on the usage of computing and technology resources. Understanding of information security best practices and regulatory compliance areas such as HIPAA, FISMA, and NIST, and how they affect the configuration, use and support of information technology resources. Experience working within a university research academic medical center or a healthcare organization.
